BMW Shows Off Gesture Controls And Automated Parking | TechCrunch

Another car manufacturer is looking at gesture controls:

BMW Shows Off Gesture Controls And Automated Parking | TechCrunch: "BMW is showing off a bunch of new or new-ish technologies this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. On the just-announced side, there are in-development gesture-based controls — so, thanks to an in-car camera, you may soon be able to draw circles in the air to adjust the volume of your music, or point in a certain way to answer a phone call."

VW Debuts The Golf R Touch With All-Touchscreen User Interface, Gesture Control | TechCrunch

VW Debuts The Golf R Touch With All-Touchscreen User Interface, Gesture Control | TechCrunch: "VW built two interesting additional innovations into this car. Hold up your open hand for two seconds and a Kinect like gesture control pops up (including a ghost image of your hand) that lets you control all of the car’s features without even touching a screen. And using VW’s multi-touch sliders, you can put one to three fingers on the screen and, depending on how many fingers you’re using, you can control the radio’s volume or set the ambient light (this looks to be a pretty customizable feature). All of this comes with haptic feedback, too."
